Housing Rehabilitation for Homeowners |
|
Better Housing had administered the Housing Rehabilitation Program in most of the towns throughout Tompkins County. Because the availability is subject to Federal and State grant funding, the program is only available in certain towns at certain times.
The Rehabilitation Program is currently available to homeowners (mobile homes included) in Ulysses, who need assistance with repairs to keep their homes safe, habitable, or energy efficient. We are accepting pre-applications for that town only. We are awaiting news on whether other towns will be applying for federal funds in winter/spring 2008, and will update this site when we have more information, so please check back in January of 2008.
To receive a Ulysses pre-application, please contact us!

Some of the kinds of repairs that the program will pay for are:
- Installing new septic systems and wells;
- Electric service upgrades;
- Roof repair or replacement;
- Replacing old windows;
- Repair to crumbling foundations or support structures;
- And many others.
Repairs that are only cosmetic in nature do not qualify for this service.
